Riley here has some impressive whiskers. Like all cats, Riley uses his whiskers to navigate in the dark, show his mood, and make sure he fits through openings. Whiskers are long hairs that are sensitive enough to detect slight shifts in air currents caused by the presence of obstacles. When a cat is calm and relaxed he’ll push his whiskers forward, like Riley in this picture. When a cat is distressed he will pull his whiskers back so that he can better detect his full surroundings. Needless to say, the SPS team always works to make sure we leave our cat clients calm, relaxed, and showing off their whisker-y awesomeness just like Riley.
