Did you know that recent scientific studies have shown that when cats drink, they don’t actually lap up liquid like a dog does. Instead, the cat darts its tongue, curving the upper side downward so that the tip lightly touches the surface of the water. The tongue is then pulled upward at high speed, drawing a column of water behind it. Just at the moment that gravity finally overcomes the rush of water and starts to pull the column down — snap! The cat’s jaws have closed over the jet of water and swallowed it. Pretty amazing, right?
Well, what SPS thinks might be more amazing is watching Jiggy defies science and drink right from the tap. How does he do it?!
The SPS team doesn’t include any scientists, but we are highly trained and experienced professionals. And after all, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recognize when a pet likes something.
