It’s not uncommon for a house cat to hang out in a box. SPS cat sitters have seen it all the time while we provide cat care across New Orleans. As you can see, Merry looks pretty pleased to be all boxed in.
It’s not too surprising, though. Cats (like lots of animals) enjoy having a safe, semi-enclosed space that they can feel protected and safe inside of while they sleep or watch the world around them. As it turns out, this trait is also something that house cats share with their larger ancestors the “big cats.”
